Stand Down Camp for Veterans

Many veterans who have come home from Iraq or Afghanistan into a broken economy are now homeless. Scott Pelley reports on an annual encampment called Stand Down in San Diego; veterans can find a whole lot of hope, help and services. Food, shelter, even judicial services are some of the things that are offered at the Stand Down camp. We encourage you to watch this 15 min segment on Stand Down by 60 Minutes on CBS:

Addiction and debilitating sicknesses cripple both old and young veterans, there simply is not the funding to take care of all the veterans that need aid. You see there are only enough resources to help just a small percentage of the addicts that need treatment - it is very sad.

  1. I am not a veteran but want to help. I am in recovery and would welcome the chance to help. What can I do? stlouisdoc@sbcglobal.net
