Woman Arrested Blood Alcohol Five Times Legal Limit

A 22-year-old woman was arrested with a blood alcohol level 5 times the legal limit, enough alcohol to kill a person. Kelly Cybulski’s blood-alcohol reading was 0.394 when police stopped her on June 1; the federal legal limit is 0.08. Justice John Lynch, who is presiding over the case, said that he had seen only one other person with a higher blood-alcohol reading in his 30 years serving the courts. .400 is considered a lethal blood alcohol content level, it is amazing that the 22 year old not only survived, but, was able to get behind the wheel.

"Police were operating a RIDE check at University Avenue and the Highway 85 off-ramp in Waterloo around 6 p.m. June 1 when a civilian alerted them to an erratic driver four cars behind". It is clear that Cybulski is an alcoholic and needs help with her addiction. "The readings are extraordinarily high," stated her lawyer, Bernard Cummins. "They speak to an alcohol-addiction issue". After the arrest, she started counseling to deal with alcoholism and was fined the minimum $1,000 fine and was given one year of probation so that the courts can monitor her progress.

A normal person may find a blood alcohol reading like that unbelievable, but, to an alcoholic readings like that are not that out of the ordinary. Alcohol is highly addictive and just like any other drug tolerances develop, making it harder and harder to achieve the desired feeling. The logical choice for an addict is to consume more and hope for the best. Fortunately, no one was injured by Cybulski on that evening and thankfully her problem is being addressed and she can find recovery. So many people lose their lives on the roads every year because of drunk and drugged driving; thankfully some people are pulled over before accidents happen.
